Guidance
If you are a student, browse our database for a list of research projects that might be suitable for your dissertation or independent study project. Our staff will be happy to give you more details about our projects, and if you are still interested, we can arrange for you to get in touch with the client organisation. If you don’t see a project that interests you, but are keen to work with a community group, we may still be able to help! Some of the community organisations we work with are happy to consider proposals from students or academics.

If you are an academic, have a look at our project list, which will provide an overview of the type of research projects Science Shops Wales can help facilitate for your students. If you see a project that you believe would be suitable for one (or more) of your students, please get in touch. If the list does not contain any suitable projects, but you would like your students to work with community groups, please contact us. If we know that there are staff and students keen to work with us, we can actively seek out community groups, NGOs and charities that are more likely to have research needs in your subject area.

If you are a member of a community group, take a look at our project list to see what kind of work Science Shops Wales can help with. It may give you some ideas as to how we can help with your group’s needs. Don’t be put off if your research ideas seem to be different from any of the projects on the list at the moment – we are always willing to consider new project proposals. We work with a wide range of students across several universities, so we may well be able to find someone who is interested in your project.
